Duties

-Uses knowledge of content strategy and content design to improve content across FDIC digital properties and ensure consistent voice and appropriate tone that aligns with FDIC branding.

-Leads strategic content initiatives and delivers effective recommendations for developing user-centered content that is accessible and written in plain language.

-Delivers concise, compelling content that relates and corresponds to appropriate audiences through digital platforms. Helps develop and maintain consistency with FDIC brand voice, tone, and other content design standards in an FDIC Digital Design Guide.

-Plans, writes, and edits content to make digital services simpler, clearer, and easier to use.

-Serves as a subject matter expert focusing on creating and maintaining clear, accessible content.

-Demonstrate expertise in using content to attract and engage internal and external stakeholders, using strategic and creative skills to refine, enhance, and drive FDIC brand awareness, and promote programs and services. Work performed focuses on reflecting pertinent information to target audiences in a clear, consistent way.

-Works with cross-functional teams to establish and articulate internal and external key messages, and ensure that content is aligned to create clear, accessible, and concise content in a collaborative and iterative environment.

-Contributes to resources and training materials that demonstrate and contribute to best practices in content design and strategy areas.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here.

To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience 1) creating content for use across multiple contexts and communication channels (such as mobile, SMS, desktop, web based products); 2) organizing information for websites, digital applications, or other data projects; and 3) manipulating content or information resources for digital projects within an organization.

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.

Additional information

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office 3 days per week beginning January 1, 2024.

This position may be located in one of the six Regional offices or the Boston Area Office or Washington, DC. The duty location will be determined upon selection. 

You may select up to 3 locations as advertised in this vacancy announcement. You will be referred to the selecting official based on the locations selected, if among the best qualified.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 14.04% to a high of 50.45%. 1. Knowledge of content strategy, design, voice and tone.

2. Ability to craft content strategy. 

3. Ability to plan, write, edit, and publish content with a focus on digital products or service within the following areas: interaction design, product design, service design, or information architecture.

4. Ability to write (in an Agile process with co-authors), expressing clear, concise, accessible content.

5. Skill in written communication in order to design and create relevant content materials; multi-media presentations and briefings.

6. Ability to facilitate design sessions or design workshops.
