Duties

Help

Solely responsible for the safe, economic and efficient operation of the Aero Club, Hanscom's flying club, to meet the needs of the membership, training, aircraft maintenance, recreational and mission activities. Ensures the safest possible flying environment by providing a proactive safety program through all available resources including FAA Aviation Safety Counseling and Training. Coordinates with FAA, NTSB, EPA, VA,TSA and applicable federal, state and local agencies on matters of safety, operations maintenance and training. Procures aircraft, engines, avionics and parts to provide the safest possible flying environment. Maintains a profitable resale activity that reflects the needs of the membership. Responsible for membership, operational, maintenance and administrative records. Represents the military installation as spokesman for general aviation. Responsible for maintaining an accumulation site in compliance with the installation Hazardous Waste Management Plan and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act requirement. Manages aviation fuel underground storage tank and dispenser. Manages all facilities; aircraft hangar, maintenance shop, ready room, training room lobby, flight line tie-downs, hangar space rental program, fuel tank / storage and pump and associated training, flight school, and robust safety program.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must hold a Private Pilot's Certification or higher (current FAA Medical Certificate is not necessary); BS or BA(required) in one of the following: Aviation Management, Business, Safety, Education, or related degrees; Two years experience in supervision or management; two years experience in a business organization. OR four years prior SUCCESSFUL experience as a DoD Aero Club Manager or AA degree in one of the following: Aviation Management, Business, Safety, or related degrees; at least a Private Pilot Certificate or Higher (Current medical not required); a certified A&P or certified CFI; five years experience in management of an aviation related business or five years supervisory or management experience.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
