Duties

Help

The primary purpose of this position is to research, write, and edit quarterly and special Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) reports to Congress and the public. The incumbent’s duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Researches, writes, edits, and provides quality assurance as necessary for multi-agency quarterly and special reports.
  • Identifies risks and proposes oversight projects for all OCOs and participates in joint strategic planning with other OCO oversight agencies and members of the OIG team to develop plans for effective oversight of important national security operations and programs.
  • Uses a mastery of communication skills, and legal, national security and legislative knowledge, to review and provide comment on OIG audit, investigations and evaluations reports involving OCO-related topics.
  • Prepares the Inspector General for congressional testimony and outreach related to OCO oversight and interacts with State and other agency officials to obtain necessary information and promote effective oversight.

Qualifications

Applicants must have significant experience that has provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience should demonstrate proficiency in areas such as the following:

  • Experience in researching and preparing written materials.
  • Knowledge of overseas contingency environments, particularly Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, preferred.
  • Experience briefing senior officials.
  • Experience in coordinating and reviewing the work of others.
  • Experience in using and following style guides.
