Duties

Help

As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), GS-0346-9, you will:

  • Review and evaluate all operations, deployment, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure mission readiness for the Logistics Readiness Squadron.
  • Analyze exercise and contingency plans to determine required Logistics Readiness Squadron actions in support of mission requirements.
  • Evaluate all equipment, manning, and training requirements to meet deployment and pre-planned tasking.
  • Coordinate with other base organizations on applicable plans.
  • Manage the development of plans for deployments, contingency response, expeditionary support planning, sustainment, and redeployment.
  • Initiate all changes, modifications, additions, and/or deletions to personnel and equipment tasking and assignments through the Logistics Readiness Squadron Commander.
  • Responsible for Automated Training Systems, products, and a multimedia library and for developing training policies and procedures.
  • Chair and conduct meetings with management to resolve critical or controversial training issues.
  • Make arrangements for all formal schools to include technical schools for all squadron career fields, supervisory/management training and computer training.
  • Generate reports for the assignment of proper security, classification, and storage of classified documents.
  • Implement local directives for the establishment and management of Personnel Readiness folders.
  • Coordinate, develop, and administer management training programs for supervisory personnel.
  • Manage and coordinate exportable courses and Career Development Course Programs.
  • Advise commanders on training deficiencies and problem areas and recommend solutions.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to prepare long-range career development programs for enlisted personnel.
  • Perform curriculum development functions for supply customers and conduct formal classroom training.
  • Ensure the development of Master Training Plan for each Flight in the Logistics Readiness Squadron.
  • Develop local training programs to accommodate supply procedural changes and coordinate changes to other career field areas to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and/or conduct Supply Customer related Block Training.
  • Manage and conduct inspections of all squadron training areas to ensure that records are maintained in accordance with established directives.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved by the TAG.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7 Level. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Managing customer training and resources for deployed operations; reviewing and evaluating all operations, deployments, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure mission readiness; evaluating equipment, manning and training requirements; providing training guidance and/or assistance to work center supervisors; making arrangements for formal schools to include technical schools; generating reports; ensuring proper security, classification, and storage of classified documents; and advising superiors on training deficiencies, problem areas, and recommending solutions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-07 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, or equivalent graduate degree (LL.B. or J.D.), if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: You may meet the qualifications requirement for this position by combining your specialized experience and appropriate graduate level education according to the following formula: (a) your total months of full-time specialized experience as a percentage of a 12-month total; PLUS (b) your total number of qualifying graduate semester or quarter hours as a percentage of one year of graduate study. The total of the two percentages must equal at least 100 percent.

In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
