Duties

Help
  • Ensure physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation.
  • Conduct community relation activities.
  • Liaison with local State and Department of interior in studies of endangered wildlife.
  • Conduct a full range of difficult and complex law enforcement activities such as surveillance, interviewing, and search and seizure.

  • Secret security clearance.
  • Certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
  • Annual Physical Ability Test (PAT).
  • Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10%.
  • Complete weapons qualifications.
  • Position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • Meet individual reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and AR 380-67).
  • Position requires shift work.
  • Successfully graduate from the USAMPS Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year.
  • Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercise of authority or injudicious use of force.
  • Successfully graduated from a United States Army Civilian Police Academy.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) participating in planning, coordinating, and conducting fish and wildlife regulations; 2)provide physical security in remote areas of the installation; 3) conduct community relations activities which enhance appreciation for wildlife.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This position is a TERM position. It is a time limited position and may be extended up to a maximum of six years.
  • This position may be converted to a permanent, career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
  • Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE by a current permanent employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to the maximum of 5 years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
  • This is a Direct Hiring solicitation.
