Duties

Help
  • Validates proposed regional BPC activities submitted by SOUTHCOM headquarters (HQ) staff, component commands, Security Cooperation Offices (SCOs), and other supporting elements.
  • Coordinates and synchronizes all Partner Nation TSC engagement activities with SOUTHCOM activity managers.
  • Provide SOUTHCOM and theJ3 Directorate with updates, advice, inputs and information regarding current and future engagement activities throughout the assigned region.
  • Evaluates resource execution to validate requirements changes, modification, and new developments; makes re-allocation and re-prioritization recommendations to ensure judicious employment of limited resources.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position is subject to short notice recalls.
  • Infrequent international travel required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with advising on policies, strategies, planning, development, and analysis of Counter Narcotics (CN) operations and various threats for U.S. Government (USG) agencies, U.S. Embassies, and Participating Nation (PN) Country teams throughout the Caribbean and Central and South America. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).


You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
