Adhere to the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Quality Standards for Investigators when conducting a variety of criminal, civil, and administrative actions.
Prepare investigative reports, memoranda, etc. for use by the appropriate officials in criminal, civil, and/or administrative proceedings.
Plan and conduct undercover operations in accordance with federal rules and regulations.
Independently plan and conduct a variety of complex investigations in accordance with federal laws, rules and regulations.
Employ the use of electronic monitoring/surveillance equipment in accordance with applicable federal laws, rules and regulations.
Present investigative findings to the responsible prosecution team and/or management officials.
Perform investigations involving alleged contract and procurement fraud.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.

Must possess successful completion of a Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Basic Criminal Investigator Training Program or equivalent.
Physical Demands: Considerable walking and traveling between the GPO and facilities within the local area; travel to regionals GPO facilities where investigations and interviews are conducted; and field assignments require travel by plane, train, etc
Work Environment: Work performed in an office setting, although there is some exposure to industrial plant and outside work situations. Occasional scheduled and short notice travel is required.
Work Environment: Investigations may require field work such as surveillances, arrests, or participating in searches of workplaces or residences, and may require working overtime with little or no notice.
Must be willing and able to submit to medical suitability examination.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Senior Criminal Investigator (1811), GI -1811-13, you must meet the following requirements: Minimum Qualifications for Position.
Specialized experience must include one year of specialized experience at the GI-12 (or equivalent GS-12) level or higher. Specialized experience is defined as: conducting, criminal, civil, and administrative investigations; providing technical advice or recommendations on investigative activities; coordinating investigation activities with Federal, state, or local law enforcement.
The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a Secret clearance. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs; this security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.
GPO will conduct an interim security clearance, pending the completion of the full investigative requirements for the final Secret clearance. The interim security clearance will be granted based on the favorable completion of preliminary checks that are accomplished as part of the security clearance process. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.
