About the Position: The mission of Devens Reserve Forces Training Area is to provide training facilities and training support to all military services, reserve and active. It is a small base, and is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, in a small, rural community. They offer many of the Soldiers' services found at larger bases including: Army Community Services (ACS), Fitness Center, the Federal Credit Union, and much more.

Duties

Help
  • Serves as the senior warehouseman performing a full range of warehousing tasks such as receiving, shipping, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and equipment in support of the Agency.
  • Maintains warehouse, ramps, loading docks, and storage areas. Schedules pick-up of supplies and/or equipment with customers and also issues same ensuring issue documentation is properly completed.
  • Schedules appointments and processes customer turn-ins. Performs 100% edit of DD Forms 1348-1, 3161 and 2062s verifying data is correct and matches item to be issued or turned-in.
  • Processes items for shipment. Packs, crates, and stages equipment, items, and materials. Constructs, packages, containerizes, and marks materials IAW applicable guidelines.
  • Performs tasks in support of DRFTA GSA fleet. Ensures GSA vehicles are delivered for scheduled preventive maintenance and transports vehicles to and from the maintenance vendor as required.
  • Selects training aids, devices, and equipment for shipment or issue by proceeding to area, finding item and verifying information shown on shipping or issuing document against that on stock tags or labels.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MATERIALS HANDLER (MVO/FLO) without more than normal supervision. Receive supply, store supply, move supply to proper lot, verify accuracy of supply, and report discrepancies. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance. Moderate physical effort is used in operating fork lift and motor vehicle hand and foot controls.
  • Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly light areas. May
    work on open docks or in storage areas or yards. Work may be dirty, dusty, and/or greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from material handling or fork lift equipment. May be required to wear protective clothing such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, etc.
