Duties

Help

  • Develop and write information materials designed to reach national audiences through a variety of formats. Written materials include: social media language, graphics, video scripts.
  • Determine the need for social media and outreach materials to support programs and provides promotional language to reach specialized audiences in their geographical areas.
  • Develop and prepare content for LinkedIn Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of social media, e-newsletters, events, and other communication plans and materials.
  • Advise management if efforts should be discontinued, changed, or expanded.
  • Use analytics methods and develop and review reports assessing the impact of outreach efforts and makes recommendations for improvement.
The duties described above are at the Public Affairs Specialist GS-12 level, if you are selected at either the Public Affairs Specialist GS-09 or GS-11, you will essentially perform the duties as those at the level described above, however, duties are less complex and will be performed under closer supervision with more detailed guidance.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-09 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
A. completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related;
OR
B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
monitoring the status of social media events;
developing proposed brochures, flyers, etc. in support of social media;
developing social media information to brief members of the general public; and
developing and disseminating social media information concerning an organization's programs or projects.

OR
C. a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

You qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
A. completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related;
OR
B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
writing, editing and reviewing social media advisories and correspondence, talking points, or questions and answers;
implementing social media communication plans for an organization;
developing written social media communication materials concerning a range of subjects related to the organization's programs; and
analyzing social media information program materials.

OR
C. a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
A. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
developing digital and social media content;
monitoring digital and social media analytics to make recommendations on digital and social media content strategies;
using appropriate methods to increase engagement on social media platforms and improve web metrics;
using content management systems to develop and post content for digital platforms; and
analyzing social media information program materials and making recommendations for improving the delivery of program information.


You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

For Remote Positions
