This position is 100% remote and can be filled in any city; the selected candidate will be expected to work remotely. Some travel will be expected.

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (CUSTSPT) (Director - Customer Solutions), you will:

  • Serve as a senior advisor to the OIG executive-level relating to high visibility efforts to modernize and streamline end user tools, messaging, and collaboration services across the enterprise.
  • Provide supervisory functions such as: Plan, direct, control, and supervise the day-to-day Information Technology (IT) operations, provide restoration of IT services, own and manage IT incidents through their life-cycle, and provide thorough and effective communication to end users and management.
  • Ensure that assigned staff have robust processes in place to track and analyze trends in IT requests and generate statistical reports; assess needs for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) based on request trends and make recommendations.
  • Apply business requirements of customer organizations; systems development principles and approaches; and project management methods sufficient to lead IT systems development projects from design to support; evaluate the effectiveness of installed systems and services; and provide advice on and devise solutions to a wide range of IT issues. Apply project management principles and practices to plan, organize, develop, and oversee multiple, concurrent IT projects related to a broad range of diverse IT functional areas.
  • Establish performance metrics, as well as assign and coordinate the work of the assigned section to evaluate services and to develop and implement improvement then ensures that the Section quickly and accurately isolates the causes of service problems; correctly identifies and implements necessary corrective action; and works proactively to prevent future disruptions.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-15grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Planning, directing, controlling, supervising, and modernizing the day-to-day IT operations; AND
  • Providing thorough and effective communication to end users and management; AND
  • Coordinating and collaborating with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and cross-directorate stakeholders in managing comprehensive IT and data activities and initiatives.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

  • For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
