Duties

Help

As a SALES STORE CLERK, you will:

  • Record sales with cash register, make change, and prepare sales slips, and handle charge card transactions and check payments following cash control office guidelines.
  • Respond to oral and written inquiries concerning hours of operations, admission fees, merchandise, prices, and sales store operations, visitor questions, and furnishes information about the museum's exhibits, library operations, and historic site.
  • Participate in the decision-making process relating to a full range of merchandising questions including the selection of new sales items, the discontinuance of unsuccessful items, and the design and installation of new displays.
  • Assist in performing the physical inventory of sales store merchandise. Ensure accuracy of information collected.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

General Experience: For the GS-04, you must have one year of general experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-03. General experience for this position includes:

One full year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

OR

Education:
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.

OR

Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
