Duties

Help
  • Perform mechanical inspection of missiles and missile components such as corrosion, damage, loose or missing hardware, proper stenciling, and nomenclature.
  • Decan, disassemble, repair, reassemble and test the solid rocket motors.
  • Transport assets throughout the facility using forklifts with up to 15,000 lbs. lift capacity.
  • Perform tasks in connection with the assembly, test, modification, repair, and disassembly of component of the Multiple Launch Rocket System Family of Munitions (MFOM).

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • OCONUS or CONUS Travel may be required 15% of the time as directed by management.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Must meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of appointment.
  • The applicant must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent periodic medical examinations in accordance with DoD 6055-5-M. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter in compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Program.
  • This position requires shift work; incumbent to work on an alternate (1st) shift.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license within 30 days and for the duration of employment.

WG-10 Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC ~ without more than normal supervision to include decan, disassemble, and reassemble electronic missile systems - without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort

There is frequent standing, bending, and working in tiring positions, although there is occasional sitting down at work benches. It is required to lift, push, or pull a variety of times weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally some above that weight.


Working Conditions

May work in an environmentally controlled area or in areas that are lighted, heated, and ventilated. Subject to high frequency noise, cuts, bruises, and burns or shocks caused by high voltage energy. Some outside work may also be involved.
