As a POLICE OFFICER (Title 5), GS-0083-8, you will:
Performs Combat Arms Training.
Presents repetitive courses or designated blocks of longer courses and presents training material and instruction covering proper use of handguns, rifles, machine guns and other base defense/ground combat skills equipment, in accordance with approved lesson plans and course control documents.
Instruction may take place in outdoor or indoor training facilities and will require multiple police/combat agility skill demonstrations.
Applies specialized subject matter knowledge in course instruction.
May oversee the work activities of subordinates and Traditional Guardsmen.
Manages and oversees the installation ground weapons training and maintenance program; serves as an instructor and inspects ground weapons.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the installation's ground weapons training and maintenance program,incorporating safety requirements, and maintains adherence to safety regulations.
Coordinates with the local Civil Engineering Squadron personnel on various issues, to include development of a joint hazardous waste disposal site and procedures that comply with local environmental laws.
Monitors the environment for noise hazards, health problems, and all other safety hazards.
Monitors explosive safety and munitions movement's safety procedures.
Submits forecast and requisition for training weapons, equipment, tools, gauges,target material, and expendable items.
Prepares annual budget to ensure proper funding for program management.
Oversees establishing, updating, and maintaining office records of various types.
Determines training needs by analyzing requirements and comparing student individual skills with job standards to identify training requirements.
Provides sub-depot level maintenance on ground weapons, assembling and disassembling all small arms utilized in security forces inventory.
Represents the Security Forces Squadron (SFS) with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Meets with key customer and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures and resolve problems that arise.
Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs assignments
Prepares background papers and documentary support for squadron leadership onground combat weapons and munitions policies, issues and proposals.
Allocates section resources to various projects including man-hours and budget.
When needed or directed, performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within the military installation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

The employee is required to properly carry, maintain, load, unload and fire various weapons. The employee will have resourceprotection (weapons and ammunition) responsibilities that could include the use of deadly force.
Employee must successfully complete annual/recurring requirements specified for the position. Courses include: Law of Armed Conflict, Explosive Safety, Professional and Unprofessional relationships, Suicide Awareness, and other programs as directed by the Security Forces Commander.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a stateemergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance bythe TAG.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
Have at least 12 months experiences in:
Performing practical security force activities in direct support of the military weapon systems and physical security; law and order; and area security operations.
Experiences in law enforcement, maintaining law and order, preserving the peace, and protecting life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations.
Have general experiences in protecting federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire, and accident or willful damage and destruction.
Experiences in securing crime and incident scenes; apprehending and detaining suspects; searches persons and property; and collects, seize, and preserve evidence.
Experienced in conducting interviews of witnesses and suspects and obtains statements and testifies in official judicial proceedings.
Has work experiences in responding to disaster and relief operations and participates in contingencies.
Knowledgeable in developing plans, policies, procedures, and detailed instructions to implement security force programs.
Competent and experienced in maintaining accountability and ensuring security for weapons, ammunition, and explosives utilized in the course of instruction in accordance with applicable Air Force Instructions. Experienced in implementing ground weapons training programs.
Experienced in the control and safeguarding of arms, ammunition, and equipment; and, instructs ground weapons qualification training.
Have competencies in managing weapon placement to security forces and ground defense force commanders.
Have experiences in inspecting ground weapons, replacing unserviceable parts, and analyzing malfunctions by inspections and serviceability testing.
Have experiences in firing weapons for accuracy and serviceability.
Understands how to control and operate firing ranges and associated facilities to include supervising construction and rehabilitation.
Experiences may include instructions on the proper use of handguns, rifles, machine guns and other base defense/ground combat skills equipment, in accordance with approved lesson plans and course control documents.
Experienced in weaponry, laws, directives, programs, policies, and procedures governing Security Forces activities; installation security; weapon system and resource security; anti-terrorism; law enforcement and investigations; military working dogs; air base defense; training; pass and registration; civilian work force; and combat arms.
