As a WELDER - Title 32, WG-3703-10, you will perform a variety of welding in support of maintenance activities. Performs welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes, pre-heating, brazing, head welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

Military Grades: E-1 through E-9 and WO1 through CW3 (DOR on or after 17 Mar 2018)

Compatible Military Assignments: MOS: 91

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the basic knowledge of welding processes. Must have knowledge of technical orders, blueprints and specifications.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the WG-3703-10 position, you must have at least 18 months of experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment. Experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes and thicknesses. Experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength and other requirements. These welds may be in hard to reach places. Experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures. Experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings,specifications and work orders.
