Summary

Receive and unload designated conveyances, palletizes and stacks material.
Examine packages material for conformity with security regulations which include proper markings, method of packaging, security classification and protection.
Pack items according to shape, mounting provisions, destination, security sensitivity, mode of transportation, weight, etc., using preselected type containers.
Perform physical counting of warehouse material during cyclic inventory or COMSEC material and the statistical sampling Inventories of Design Control Repair Parts and locator surveys.
Perform other miscellaneous duties including the operating of a paper pulverizing machine (disintegrator).
Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain Forklift Operator's certification.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
Incumbent will be required to take mandatory annual HAZMAT training.
Must enroll in Tobyhanna Army Depot's Respiratory protection program.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MATERIALS HANDLER ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common tasks Materials Handler tasks including: receiving, unloading, and processing incoming shipments. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS
Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas that require standing, bending, stooping, and working in uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries supplies, materials, and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally heavier.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed mostly inside in a security controlled environment. Work areas may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. Sometimes works outside exposed to bad weather. The work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy and the employee is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls from ladders, or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other material handling equipment. Position requires the incumbent to wear protective clothing such as safety shoes, goggles, and gloves. The sensitivity of the material is such that strict surveillance and control by at least two authorized and specially cleared personnel is required at all times in designated areas in order that no one person, regardless of rank, will have single access.
