Duties

Help
  • Must be able to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting documents submitted by assigned activities.
  • Required to maintain assigned subsidiary ledgers for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, customer deposits, unearned income, annual leave payable, equipment, prepaid items and central storeroom accounts.
  • Required to analyze and review reports and machine listing to assure they are in balance and in proper format and sort sequence, that accounting data is valid and that it adheres to prescribed regulatory manuals and procedures.
  • Classifies erroneous conditions referring complex errors/problems to the accountant. Takes corrective action to bring reports and listing into balance. Verifies corrected copy and recommends changes in procedures to prevent a recurrence of problem.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent also may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Work experience performing accounting support duties such as: Processing transactions to include verifying codes and other information; reconciling balances; using standard formulas to calculate and/or verify calculations; assembling appropriate forms and reports; entering data into automated file systems; distributing documents to appropriate personnel; answering routine procedural inquiries; Maintaining assigned subsidiary ledgers for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, customer deposits, unearned income, annual leave payable, equipment, prepaid items and central storeroom accounts.

Best Qualified:
Possess previous work experience in the position of accounting technician.
AND
Possess previous work experience in submitting work orders via automated systems, key control, and processing labor transfers, mileage reimbursement, and receiving reports.
