Summary

This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), PD# T5896000 and is part of the RI 143d Airlift Wing. This position is Special Security Officer (SSO) responsible for management of the Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
The purpose of this position is to implement DoD regulations and best practices required for facility management, maintain classified equipment, classified computer systems, and personnel security clearance management.
The incumbent is responsible for installing and testing the classified system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining workstation and server hardware and software. The incumbent is the primary customer support specialist for the classified systems used throughout the unit.
Serves as a technical expert and focal point for the installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and associated assigned systems. Develops, modifies, and tests overall classified system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Serves as a systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to meet customer needs. Work pertains to the administration of all classified systems, including a myriad of associated hardware platforms, software applications and numerous interfaces included in the Local Area Network (LAN).
To be considered for this Title 5 position in the Excepted Service, applicants must be current US citizens in possession of a Top-Secret security clearance.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

This is an Information Security Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position.
May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
The employee will be required to have, or obtain, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Position is designated as OM-ADM-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency declaration- will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

a) Must possess specialized experience in this occupational field equivalent to a GS-09.
or
b) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
