As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-8, you will:

This position is located in the CSMS #1. Its primary purpose is to transport supplies and equipment intra and inter State using a variety of wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers or to tow or recover equipment. Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, and over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Currency on out-state tractor/trailer height/weight requirements an on HAZMAT and OSHA requirements.
  • Must have operator maintenance ability for all types of equipment and have a Commercial Driver License.
  • Currency on all types of loading equipment (forklifts, cranes, winch systems).

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Enlisted to CW3. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

**Candidates must have a valid state driver's license.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 12 months experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below. Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience operating vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) listed below and how they relate to work experience, education or training.

- Skill in safely operating vehicles, with automatic or manual transmission) that have limited maneuverability in complicated traffic situations.
- Skill to complete log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportation documents for accurate accounting.
- Skill to perform warehouse work to include issuing, receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking material.
