Duties

Help

As an Events Manager, your typical work assignments may include the following duties:

-Directs events team in all aspects of NEA events to ensure alignment with agency goals and objectives, promotion of agency branding, appropriateness of proposed participants, locations, adherence to budget, milestones, and deliverables timelines.

-Oversees events team in serving as the agency's project director on events-based cooperative agreements for programs such as Heritage Fellows, Jazz Masters, Musical Theater Songwriting, and Poetry Out Loud. Enforces necessary terms in Cooperative Agreements, Memoranda of Understanding/Agreement, and Contracts.

-Executes all activities in association with these events, including all event logistics.

-Leads communication both internally and externally with those involved in planning and carrying out the events in association with agency programmatic activities.

-Serves as primary contact with the Office of Public Affairs staff on developing marketing and public relations materials for all events.

Qualifications

GS-13:

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, with experience in performing the following duties:

1) organizing and planning arts and culture related events or events with an artistic component;
2) tracking and monitoring progress or arts and culture events;
3) serving as a liaison to various types of groups/organizations;
4) providing advice and support to management concerning events planning.

NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, INCLUDING EXPERIENCE IN PLANNING ARTS AND CULTURE EVENTS, otherwise you will be found ineligible.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
