As a FABRIC WORKER, WG-3105-9, you will:

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to perform fabric and upholstery work in support of maintenance activities.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Enlisted on up to CW4 is eligible to apply. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to take measurements, make patterns and layouts, mark, cut, fit and sew or cement parts together, using hand or power tools and equipment and knowledge of fabrics and constructions methods.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience in the KSAs listed below. Experience or training reading and interpreting designs and blueprints, technical manuals, and prints, and drawing individual patterns, making alterations or adjustments to difficult patterns. Experience computing dimensions, lay out circles, angles, curves and irregular shapes. Experience planning, laying out, altering and constructing different, new or one-of-a-kind items. Experience applying mathematical principles such those used in the calculation and measurement of fabric. Experience operating, repairing, and maintaining sewing machines, punch presses and other related equipment. Experience using a variety of hand and power tools and measuring devices such as flexible measuring tapes, straight and curved rules, protractors, compasses, dividers, squares, patterns and templates.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.

  • Skill in computing dimensions, laying out circles, angles, curves and irregular shapes.
  • Knowledge of mathematical principles such those used in the calculation and measurement of fabric.
  • Skill in using a variety of hand and power tools and measuring devices such as flexible measuring tapes, straight and curved rules, protractors, compasses, dividers, squares, patterns and templates.
  • Knowledge of standard techniques to pad and cover items that have relatively straight lines and regular surfaces.
