Summary

This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Office of Audit- Deputy Inspector General for Audits. As an Information Technology Specialist, you will report directly to the Assistant Director Data Extracts, who may or may not be co-located with the incumbent. The purpose of the position is to perform advanced level work necessary to plan, design, develop and coordinate data extraction activities to support Deputy Inspector General for Audit and all of TIGTA.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Assist the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of national data extraction applications providing assistance to TIGTA staff.
- Coordinate enhancements for data extraction and delivery of electronic files to the off-the-shelf software formats utilized on TIGTA's computer equipment located throughout the country.
- Provide expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
-Recommend to management that significantly influence important IT policies or programs throughout TIGTA.
- Support the Information Security Program to protect taxpayer data.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Conducting information technology tasks using JCL or IBM Mainframe Assembly/Assembler Language Programs to extract data, query the data for specific criteria, etc.

Specialized Experience For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Conducting the following information technology tasks: extracting, formatting and analyzing data; AND
- Utilization and programming of IT language Mainframe programs (e.g. JCL, Assembly, Assembler) for reading data, preparing reports, etc


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.


Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.

Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
