Duties

Help
  • Responsible for ensuring all organizational programs, plans, and policies are systematically integrated into an overall plan of operations in USAMDW and JTF-NCR.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff in determining organizational goals and development of plans.
  • Review work efforts within the Command Staff to ensure continued support for mission elements, as well as progress and timeliness of official tasks and products from HQDA, U.S. NORTHCOM, and other DoD organizations or Commands.
  • Serve as personal staff contact for the Chief of Staff, maintaining close liaison and working relationships with representatives and officials from federal departments and agencies, and interested citizen groups.
  • Perform duties as the Command Group budget manager.
  • Provide input in the development, synchronization, and communication of Command policies and operating procedures to Directors and Program Managers.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Managing and directing Command-wide policies, operations, budgets, procedures; administrative business planning; logistical and personnel management; document control; automation and integration activities in support of a Command Group. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This is a Mission Essential position: if this area experiences severe weather conditions that result in the installation being closed for normal business operations, you are still required to report for or remain on duty to maintain infrastructure operations, health, safety, and security.
  • Position has been designated as Key: This position shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the agency to function effectively. Because of the essential nature of this position, shall require that it not be filled by members of the National Guard, Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations to preclude such position from being vacated during a mobilization.
  • The selecting official has requested a competitive and noncompetitive candidate list for this vacancy. If you are eligible for the noncompetitive list, you will be evaluated on basic and/or minimum qualifications, as applicable. While required to answer the assessment questions, non-competitive candidates will not be evaluated against the competitive rating & ranking criteria. The selecting official may select from any of the candidate lists.
  • This position may be filled by temporary promotion not to exceed 3 years by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of six years and may be made permanent without further competition.
  • There are no guaranteed placement rights for career status candidates placed on a term appointment. Status candidates will not lose personal competitive status and may still be converted to permanent based on that status, however, not guaranteed.
  • Position may be filled as a term appointment not to exceed 3 years, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
  • A 1-year supervisory probation may be required.
