Help

The Program Support Assistant (OA) provides operational support to a variety of Behavioral Health program areas. Duties typically include, but are not limited to:

  • Compiling, tracking, and analyzing program data
  • Assist management officials with preparation of routine and special reports and presentations related to program performance
  • Coordinate and organize incoming data from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Review documents, reports, correspondence, etc. to ensure information is complete and accurate
  • Perform data entry
  • Assist management officials with analysis and dissemination of program information
  • Monitor mandatory training requirements of program staff to ensure timely completion
  • Process requests for training, and provide training to providers on program specific software, applications, etc.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, either 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/08/2023.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience for the GS-6 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: compiling and tracking data; updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, electronic calendars; drafting correspondence; answering phones and referring callers to appropriate party.
  • Specialized Experience for the GS-7 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: retrieving data from electronic data warehouses; analyzing data and making recommendations for improvement; researching and interpreting reference materials, policies, and/or regulations; proofreading correspondence; preparing reports and/or presentations for management briefings
Current Hybrid Title 38 employees: To qualify for a Title 5 position based on the Interchange agreement, you must meet the following:
1. Be currently serving under a permanent appointment.
2. Served continuously for at least 1 year in the other merit system prior to appointment under the interchange agreement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary with limited walking, standing, sitting and lifting. Work is primarily within an office setting however the incumbent will need to move throughout the Medical Center in outpatient, inpatient, and other administrative settings. Safety and health precautions must be utilized dependent on the location.

There is no educational substitution at either the GS-6 or GS-7 grade level.
