Duties

Help

  • Performs clerical support work for orders, purchases and other procurement needs.
  • As a Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder, orders, receives and inspects all automotive supplies including tools, equipment and parts. Verifies all prices, calls the vendors to resolve ordering discrepancies or product quality issues.
  • Plans special events such as the car show.
  • Provides guidance to patrons with their automotive projects.
  • Ensure that inventory is properly stored and identified (labeled), that the car wash is stocked and in working order, and merchandise is displayed.
  • Operates a cash register, prepares daily cash handling reports, and makes deposits, as required.
  • Conducts a quarterly inventory of all inventory supplies.
  • Assists with end-of-month paperwork and file maintenance.
  • Assures that shop is kept clean and orderly.
  • Acts as POC for hazardous waste generation/disposal.
  • Performs a variety of office clerical duties to include managing files, answering telephones and other general clerical duties.
  • Opens and closes the facility as required.
  • As needed, assists patrons with their self-help automotive projects, and maintenance.
  • Assists in the use of tools, equipment and materials to include changing brakes, rotating tires, and performing other basic automotive care.
  • Ensures that all patrons adhere to established safety policies.
  • Takes parts orders from patrons.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Works under the supervision of the Automotive Mechanic Supervisor.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Applicant must have knowledge of ordering and purchasing and procurement procedures.
  • Must have experience performing cash management duties, including operating cash registers, and making cash deposits.
  • Applicant must have knowledge of various office and clerical duties including managing files, answering telephones and operating computers.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to operate various types of automotive equipment and tools.
  • Applicant must have the ability to resolve common arithmetical problems and make change when receiving payments from customers.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi­faceted environment and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Applicant must have basic experience in automotive maintenance (rotating tires, changing oil, changing brakes etc).
  • National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are required.
  • Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
