The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

As an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/OS), you will:

  • Provide timely end-user response and effectively maintains and troubleshoots workstation hardware and software components within the infrastructure.
  • Plan and install modifications to the workstation operating system environment, office suite, and other software included on agency workstations.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems and issues associated with TIGTA hardware and software.
  • Review legislation, regulatory, and procedural material in order to assess the impact on existing workstation configurations.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-13, You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:

  • Experience using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM); AND
  • Managing projects in the conception, design and development of integrated computer hardware and software information systems; AND
  • Providing advice and recommendations to resolve integration issues related to the implementation of new systems; AND
  • Managing the planning and delivery of customer support programs that provide the full range of IT services to end-users of IT hardware and software throughout the organization.
For the GS-12, You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM); AND
  • Experience working with applications or troubleshooting software and hardware issues; AND
  • Working on an information technology team; AND
  • Developing policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of information technology services.
For the GS-11, You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM); AND
  • Providing user account support to include setup and configuration; AND
  • Performing systems administration and troubleshooting.
OR
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.
OR
  • Combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in
1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
  • For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
  • For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
  • For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-9level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (CONTINUED):

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • You will be required to regularly report to the Duty Station listed above. While teleworking is an option, approval is at management's discretion based on duties, business needs, performance, etc.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
