Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and execute comprehensive public affairs and strategic communication campaigns to disseminate information concerning TIGTA operations.
  • Develop programs, objectives, and local, regional, and national outreach strategies designed to inform and educate the general and specialized public to include domestic and international audiences, about the Agency mission, activities, plans, and programs.
  • Design communication campaigns that promote the understanding of TIGTA missions, and actions taken by TIGTA, among the news media, other government agencies, Department of Treasury, associations, private organizations, state and local government officials, advocacy groups, and the public.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of Congress and Congressional committees.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with representatives of local, regional, national and international news media organizations to develop a two-way dialog that will enhance understanding of TIGTA mission and facilitate the communication of complex information on new programs or special areas of TIGTA emphasis.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-14 level that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:

- Preparing and reviewing materials for all forms of mass communications and briefings for senior-level officials; AND
- Developing effective and measurable communication strategies to the media and general public; AND
- Communicating with and providing advice to senior-level management regarding standard communication practices; AND
- Develops and reviews written materials designed to encourage others to adopt positions on various issues.


Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (CONTINUED):
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • You will be required to regularly report to the Duty Station listed above. While teleworking is an option, approval is at management's discretion based on duties, business needs, performance, etc.
