Duties

Help
  • Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, assigning immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
  • Checks work in progress and upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines, and urges or advises other employees to follow the instructions and to meet deadlines.
  • Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work. Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall operations.
  • Provides care of all animals, including horses and various household pets kept at the stables, kennels and/or petting Zoo. Performs work according to established methods or follows special instructions.
  • Responsible for keeping stables, kennel and premises in a clean and sanitary condition, and for the security and welfare of all animals.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TOP).
  • As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TOP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.

Qualifications

Standard Qualifications:
Knowledge of animals' characteristics, needs and behavior, and skill in observing, handling and caring for animals. Able to follow complex instructions, ability to maintain records. Ability to inspect or lead the work of others

Highly Qualified:
Have two (2) year of Animal Caretaking experience.

Experience must be listed in Resume otherwise it will not be considered.
