Duties

Help
  • Independently conduct and coordinate complex analysis, studies, and projects in support of a wide variety of investigations and audits involving financial fraud, abuse of authority and conflict of interest, and criminal investigations.
  • Conducts investigative analysis and provides findings and recommendations to their supervisor, investigators, and OIG management staff with numerous sources of information available during the conduct of research projects assigned.
  • Selects, investigates, and evaluates pertinent source material, and assembles, analyzes, and checks statistical data.
  • During the course of the analysis/evaluation of data, identifies trends, potential new avenues of investigation, or additional records that may be needed in order to complete an investigative assignment.
  • Prepares analytical data, staff reports, and memorandum which reflect data on execution of investigations, hearings, and meetings in support of Office of Investigations activities.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT FOR GS-12: Specialized Experience for GS-12: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent in the Federal service that included participating in the coordination of investigative programs and investigations, investigative research and analysis, identifying trends, and potential new avenues of investigation. In addition, experience applying analytical methods, developing findings and conclusions based on the evidence to prepare reports in an impartial, comprehensive, and concise manner.

Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
