DUTIES:

  • Executive Assistant to the Commander. Analyze, plan, and coordinate all scheduling/ calendar requirements for the commander. Resolve conflict and issues as they arise with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Office Manager/Command Staff Communications. Facilitate effective communication among command staff and meet weekly with key stakeholders to ensure proper and complete support of center leadership.
  • Serve as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for contracted administrative support.
  • Analyze and plan all official travel required of the CC in his official capacity. Utilizes the Defense Travel System (DTS), command staff mission requirements, and communicate with host entities to ensure complete itinerary planning and publishing.
  • Command Staff Workflow Management. Analyze and manage all incoming workflow traffic to include all Air Force Task Management Tool (TMT) taskings for the center leadership and command staff. Consistently manage the very dynamic prioritization of all taskings with recurring mission requirements.
  • This position provides technical and/or administrative direction to one or more subordinates, but occupies less than the required minimum of the position's time.
SKILLS:
  • Ability to perform first-level supervisor responsibilities and to learn, be certified, and perform Contracting Officer's Representative duties.
  • Experience with analyzing, evaluating, and creating action plans to overcome issues, challenges, studies, and/or duties concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the command staff and other supported offices' operations.
  • Knowledge of the mission, major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes and tools, and operations of a command staff and other supported offices.
  • Ability to utilize management and organizational principles and practices. Must be able to use necessary office automation tools and Air Force/Department of Defense systems to include: Microsoft 365, the Defense Travel System, and the Air Force Task Management Tool.
  • Ability to adapt analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to measure program improvement and effectiveness and/or organizational productivity.

  • The incumbent may be required to respond to no-notice taskings outside normal duty hours.

  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) approximately 5 days per year

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Ability to perform first-level supervisor responsibilities over federal civilian subordinates and to learn, be certified, and perform COR duties.

2. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to apply to issues, challenges, studies, and/or duties concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the command staff and other supported offices' operations.

3. Knowledge of the mission, major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes and tools, and operations of the command staff and other supported offices of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC).

4. Knowledge of management and organizational principles and practices along with an ability to use necessary office automation tools and Air Force/Department of Defense systems to include: Microsoft 365, the Defense Travel System, and the Air Force Task Management Tool.

5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, internal and external to the organization, and in compliance with Air Force Tongue and Quill and AFNWC Business Rules, to achieve stated objectives or to make an adequate case for a particular strategy that achieves overall command staff, other supported offices, and AFNWC goals and objectives.

The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), is the nuclear-focused center within Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) synchronizing all aspects of nuclear materiel management on behalf of the AFMC commander and in direct support of Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).
