The Deputy Chief Clinical Health Informatics Officer is part of a formal informatics leadership and informatics steering committee (ISC) presence at the facility level. This formal presence ensures that knowledge of informatics is infused throughout the GLAHCS, and that health information issues affecting the delivery of care are clearly articulated and raised appropriately for action.

Policy Development and Implementation:
- Ensure that all local, VISN and national informatics policies, and SOPs are implemented properly and in a timely manner.
- Develop and manage the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) business architecture, which structures and communicates the VHA healthcare business, and includes descriptions of business behaviors, functionality, processes, and the flow of information that is required to achieve VHA's mission.
- Develop and/or implement policies and operating procedures inclusive to the successful deployment, management, and continuous improvement of EHR system use.
