As a IT Specialist - Network Services (Cloud Services) at the GS-2210-14/15 some of your typical work assignments may include:

This is a Career Ladder Position. If selected at the GS-14 level, the incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the GS-15 (FPL JX13248) level, without further competition once time-in-grade, training, satisfactory performance, and other requirements of the higher grade level are met.
The duties and responsibilities of this position are essentially the same as those on the FPL PD JX13248 identified below, except the incumbent is under closer supervision, and receives more detailed instructions with differences noted in the factor descriptions.

This position may be filled at the GS-14 or GS-15 level.

  • Manages the operation of DARPA's cloud services and oversees the activities of a team of IT support personnel. Oversees the day-to-day task prioritization and management of a dedicated staff of cloud administrators and engineers.
  • Analyzes DARPA trends and requirements evolving within the areas of business practices, process automation and productivity enhancement.
  • Serves as the technical authority/ Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Cloud capabilities (e.g., Infrastructure as a service [IaaS], Platform as a service [PaaS], and Software as a service [SaaS]) across multiple classification levels - Unclassified - Top Secret.
  • Serves as a senior technical resource for the DARPA's Chief Information Officer. Develops policies and programs that require the use of advanced concepts associated with emerging IT cloud services and technologies.
  • Represents DARPA as a senior technical expert/SME on panels, committees that deal with national and international IT standards.
  • Interacts with DARPA Program Managers and develops and presents recommendations to DARPA executives.
  • Works with DARPA staff in the formulation of new regulations and policy as needed to ensure
    efficient operation of DARPA Information Systems.
  • Stays current on emerging trends and technologies in cloud computing and makes recommendations for future technology investments and improvements that can be applied to DARPA's research programs.
  • Responds to requests from officials for guidance on IT systems, operations, and applications with emphasis on cloud
    services.

Qualifications

You may qualify if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. For GS-14: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the federal service (experience may have been gained in the military or private sector). Specialized experience at this level is:  Experience in cloud services technology to identify, design, and analyze potential Agency efforts to provide, maintain, and improve performance and reliability. Assists in analyzing Agency trends and requirements evolving within the areas of business practices, process automation and productivity enhancement. 
B. For GS-15: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the federal service (experience may have been gained in the military or private sector). Specialized experience at this level is:  Experience overseeing cloud services technology to identify, design, and analyze potential Agency efforts to provide, maintain, and improve performance and reliability. Independently analyze Agency trends and requirements evolving within the areas of business practices, process automation and productivity enhancement. 

In addition to the specialized experience above both grades must also possess: 

* Advanced expert knowledge and experience in the management and operation of complex cloud environments providing mission critical support. 

* Expertise in the support of a mixed computing environment comprised of multiple cloud offerings (MS Azure, AWS, etc.).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
