Duties

Help

If you are selected as an Public Affairs Specialist (Digital Media Specialist), your responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to:

Duties at GS-12 level:

  • Independently manages content on the OIG's digital media platforms including the public website, Twitter, LinkedIn, the external email marketing program, and the OIG's internal SharePoint Hub.
  • Creates and deploys new content on the OIG's public website, including interactive web content. Keeps current knowledge of new tools, technologies, methods, and strategies for web content. Serves as the point of contact for web developers and works with developers to deploy new website features.
  • Evaluates the OIG's digital media platforms through metrics. Makes recommendations for improving the user experience, and, once accepted, executes those improvements.
  • Organizes, plans, and deploys social media and external email content in connection with issuance of OIG reports, campaigns, observances, and events. Develops, maintains, and adheres to a digital content calendar.
  • Provides information, advice, and recommendations to the Communications Director on evolving modes of digital communication.
In addition to duties at GS-12 level, GS-13 level duties include:
  • Prepares and presents digital strategy to Communications Director, including recommendations on use of evolving modes of digital communication.
  • Independently manages the development process for new website features, from conceptualization to execution, soliciting and managing input from web developers, graphic designers, and other stakeholders.
  • Identifies OIG projects that would benefit from interactive/innovative web content. Employs knowledge of industry best practices and new/emerging tools and technologies to develop web content.
  • Independently manages the OIG's social media and external email programs. Drafts language, develops concepts for graphics and multimedia, and organizes, plans, and deploys social media and external email content in connection with issuance of OIG reports, campaigns, observances, and events.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level obtained in the Federal or Public sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.) Examples of specialized experience include such duties as:

  • Creating and deploying content for public web sites and social media; copywriting for various audiences; developing and deploying marketing emails; and developing and adhering to a content calendar.
To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level obtained in the Federal or Public sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.) Examples of specialized experience include such duties as:
  • Independently creating and deploying content for public web sites and social media; developing strategy for digital content; copywriting for various audiences; independently developing and deploying email marketing program; and making recommendations for program improvements.

Education
