Duties

Help
  • At the GS-06 you will perform developmental duties as assigned.
  • At the Full-Performance Level (GS-07) you will perform the below duties:
  • You will assist in the development and implementation of all museum functions including exhibitions, special events, public programs, visitor inquiries, opening and/or closing of museum, visitor demographic analysis, and group visits.
  • You will serve as a personal representative and telephone contact for the museum.
  • You will assist in providing support services for formal official and public functions and ceremonies.
  • You will act as a research assistant to the Director.

Qualifications

GS-07:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Providing technical or general information to visitors about the museum and its collections; 2) Coordinating public and non-public program special events in the museum; 3) Monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure that the artifacts are safe and accounted for; and 4) Supporting management with historical collections and the facility.

GS-06:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Answering general inquiries on historical properties within the collection; 2) Providing support for museum events of public and non-public nature; 3) Assisting in monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure artifacts are safe; and 4) Performing simple tour guide duties and providing information to visitors.

Education

GS-06 & GS-07:
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed one full year of related graduate level education including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in a related field of study including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
