Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a OCA-ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, Position Description Number T5791000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. This regional laboratory supports several National Guard wings throughout the Midwest.
As an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-2602-12, you will be assigned to the following Precision Measurement Equipment Lab: 190th/Forbes ANG, KS. You will perform maintenance, repair, calibration, overhaul, final alignment, and modify/certify manual, semi-automatic systems, flight line test units, laboratory standards of unusually complex precision measurement and data acquisition systems.Installs, tests,repairs,overhauls,fabricates or modifies,calibrates,troubleshoots and certifies highly complex electronic systems components or subassemblies. Installs and tests highly complex electronics equipment.Performs functional tests to locate equipment malfunctions in accordance with accepted trade practices to minimize equipment downtime. Sets up Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment(TMDE) and uses this equipment to ensure operational accuracy by performing intricate and complex laboratory and/or on site calibrations and repairs of electronic systems. Uses electronic measuring equipment ranging in complexity from multi meters to complex software-controlled automatic test equipment. Uses and maintains tools and equipment Uses trade tools such as wire strippers, drills, files, dremel tools, soldering irons, and microsoldering units to remove and replace parts. Maintains records and documents actions. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
National Guard military membership is NOT required

Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance within one year of appointment.

This position is designated as Essential Personnel may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, state emergency or disaster declaration. Designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless approved in advance by the TAG.
May be subject to drug test and physical after appointment.
May be required to work overtime.
May be required to travel away from normal duty station.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience with work that involves the maintenance and repair of unusually complex precision measurement equipment, instruments, and instrumentation systems with a minimum of available instructions and servicing of equipment that is complicated by frequent engineering changes such as in design, construction, operating specifications, and special servicing procedures.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in using the full complement of precision electronic reference standards and complex special test panels to isolate defects complicated by a variety of critical absolute or percentage tolerance values and relationships of factors such as:-
bandwidth;
- frequency response;
-gain;
- sensitivity;
- attenuation;
- noise level
- time delay;
- power;
- linearity;
- modulation;
In addition, must have experience in analyzing circuits and preparing or interpreting detailed diagrams and schematics to effectively troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and calibrate a variety of complex electronic precision measurement equipment and instruments; performing operational checkout, malfunction analysis, and preventative maintenance to ensure instruments and equipment serviced at this level are in optimal condition for accuracy and reliability of finished test results; improvising in the use of precision measurement equipment and the application of trade techniques to solve unusual problems related to factors such as: obsolete equipment; testing environment and location and density of circuitry.
Physical Effort: The work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. The mechanics frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) independently, and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. They work in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping is required.
Working Conditions: The mechanics normally work in clean, well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas, but may work at remote user locations under variable conditions. They are exposed to the possibility of electric shock, burns from electrical or radio frequency energy or hot solder, and cuts and bruises. Workers may be required to wear appropriate safety gear such as protective eyewear, and/or work within clean room environments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are required.
Education
Applicants that have attended the Air Force Precision Measuring Equipment Specialist Course or equivalent training course from other branches of service is desired. Please include certification.
