Major Duties of the Position:
DUTY 1: Teaches students in undergraduate courses, including the associated duties of enforcing classroom standards. Builds personal teaching skills in assigned classes through development, consumption, and delivery of department and faculty-level mentoring on course design, pedagogy, and interpersonal engagement. Serves as a course director. Grows and augments departmental educational programs by providing advice and counsel regarding techniques, technology, and scholarship to departmental colleagues and leadership. Mentors students through the provision of extra instruction outside of normal class hours, academic advising, and assistance with research and writing. Participates in professional development activities within the department, and /or faculty wide, in building teaching excellence. Provides student assessment and motivation. Works towards developing and implementing innovative teaching practices. DUTY 2: Develops research on topics of interest to the scholarly community. Builds credible reputation as a scholar through continued progress in specified research agenda and contributions to the body of knowledge. Prepares papers and presentations containing the findings of research and scholarly study. Publishes peer-reviewed work in appropriate professional outlets at a pace and quality consistent with accepted disciplinary standards. Pursues professional development through membership in professional organizations, consultation on scholarly products, and participation in organized professional events. Seeks and supports opportunities to engage cadets in research efforts and community events within the discipline, like participating in conferences. DUTY 3: Develops administrative and planning capabilities in support of department and faculty mission execution. Performs appropriate administrative functions, as assigned, to ensure the timely and effective offering of education both in and out of the classroom. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving, when requested, on departmental and faculty committees, teams, and task forces. Mentors cadets outside of the classroom by serving in positions including, but not necessarily limited to, Associate Air Officer Commanding for Academics (AAOCA), academic advisor, and athletic team Officer Representative (OR). Participates in intra- and inter-department activities including, but not necessarily limited to, search committees, outcome teams, faculty senate, and interdisciplinary governance or topical committees. Serves as an academic advisor for cadets.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A PhD in chemistry or a related field.

ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES:
Candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in inorganic chemistry. Experience teaching inorganic chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate level is highly desired. Experience leading research projects and programs is desired. Leadership experience in curriculum development and academic assessment is desired. Applicants will be assessed based on education, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and demonstrated service to educational institutions and the discipline commensurate with years in the discipline.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience teaching and performing research in inorganic chemistry or a related field.

EDUCATION:

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
