Duties

Help
  • Responsible for being a Public Affairs team lead and serving in a role that develops and implements the NETCOM strategic communications program and conducts information programs.
  • Formulate and recommend strategies to facilitate understanding and support from industry, other federal agencies, Congress, the general public, and across the command and the Army, via a wide range of communications media.
  • Design approaches to address particular communications problems in various program areas.
  • Direct and supervise development and execution of proactive projects.
  • Assist in the development of budgets related to strategic communications, public affairs, social media and marketing.
  • Advise and assist headquarters, public affairs officers, and strategic communications specialists throughout NETCOM on development of specialized strategies, communication campaigns, and associated communication products.
  • Oversee content and design aspects of front end of NETCOM command web site, the public affairs portions of the NETCOM web site, and the planning and preparation of NETCOM news service products.
  • Assist in handling controversial, national level issues impacting the command and the Army, often during crisis and emergency situations.
  • Maintain a leadership role to assign and train subordinate members along same guidelines.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by knowledge of writing and communication principles, methods, and techniques that relate to public affairs; expert ability in developing new information materials including news releases, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, broadcast spots, etc., that increase communication with the agency's audiences; experience making on-the-spot presentations to audiences with opposing points of view or erroneous understanding of agency positions; and experience responding timely and appropriately to requests for information concerning agency programs and services.
