This is a Direct Hiring Authority notice open to the Public using the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense.

Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Cyber Defense Analyst in the DLA Task Force Support Office (TFSO-HH-SMB), Program Policy, Security, and Intelligence Division, Cybersecurity Branch.
  • Manage and maintain network defensive tools and conducts analysis of information collected from a variety of sources to detect, protect, defend, and respond to network threats.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with organizational staff and stakeholders to ensure clear communication, coordination of cybersecurity posture changes and deployment of cybersecurity-defense tools
  • Advise leadership of cyber threats affecting the organization's readiness posture.
  • Characterize and analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to network resources.
  • Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.

  • Overtime/compensatory time required 25%
  • Duty Hours: Subject to immediate recall or long-term shift assignments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for extended periods of time; also subject to shift rotation and assignment to abnormal tours of duty.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Cyber Defense Analyst your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Serving in a position with Cyber Defense analyst duties/responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining network defensive tools and responding to threats.
  • Testing, implementing, deploying, maintaining, reviewing, and administering security infrastructure hardware and software, and monitoring network(s) to remediate against unauthorized activities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE: The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy.
