This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the EXTERNAL AFFAIRS DIVISION DCF. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will report to the Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist (Manager, External Affairs Division) and perform a variety of Public Affairs activities and special projects in support of the office.
Summary
This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the EXTERNAL AFFAIRS DIVISION DCF. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will report to the Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist (Manager, External Affairs Division) and perform a variety of Public Affairs activities and special projects in support of the office.
Write and/or edit news releases, employee communications, website content, social media content, and other informational materials related to Bureau history, programs, operations, and products for dissemination to internal and external customers.
Coordinate special events such as town hall meetings, awards ceremonies, trade shows, and open houses.
Coordinate and organize news media interviews with Bureau officials and correspond with various private and Federal sector representatives. The purpose of these contacts is to exchange information relative to the public affairs program area to foster public awareness of Bureau activities to specialized audiences of philatelic numismatic organizations, academic institutions, etc.
Research and prepare issue papers, background materials, and executive presentations for use by high-level Bureau officials.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience for the GS-12 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Collecting, assembling, preparing, and disseminating information concerning the various programs of the organization; AND
Independently planning and promoting programs by coordinating events, with the purpose of educating the public and internal workforce on product and mission.
Specialized Experience for the GS-11 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-9 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Developing communications for public and/or internal consumption.
OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR
LL.M., if related
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
