Duties

Help
  • You will actively engage in planning and Operational Risk Management (ORM) meetings, providing valuable insights and suggestions.
  • You will aid in conducting comprehensive training in various settings, including on-the-job training and classroom instruction.
  • You will support efforts towards overseeing and verifying mechanical design, while also participating in the fabrication processes of mechanical systems.
  • You will employ advanced technical skills in using design and programming tools such as SolidWorks CAD, AutoCAD, and CNC system programming.
  • You will provide robust support to the ARD Operations and Maintenance Supervisor by effectively managing the ARD Logistics Support functions.
  • You will conduct the set-up and test operations of distinct test platforms and apparatus.
  • You will showcase flexibility and adaptability by performing work in diverse environments such as industrial settings, lake landscapes, and aboard large-scale submarine models.
  • You will strategically plan and effectively execute work assignments, ensuring the highest quality of work.
  • You will uphold the Navy's safety program standards rigorously and foster a culture of safety leadership within the team.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Position may require work onboard ships.
  • Position may require lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

For the NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 pay band or GS-09/10 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing advanced engineering duties, which include the creation of comprehensive plans or precise specifications during the phases of design, fabrication, testing, maintenance, and system overhaul.

For the NT-03:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 pay band or GS-05/08 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Delivering engineering support services throughout the lifecycle of systems or components by encompassing stages of design, construction, testing, and overhaul.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

For the NT-03, education can be substituted for experience as follows -

Successful completion of a master's degree that is directly related to the position being filled OR

Successful completion of two full years of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled: Engineering Technical Series 0802 (opm.gov)

or

Successful completion of a combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
