As a THEATER AEROSPACE OPERATIONS COMMAND AND CONTROL OFFICER (TITLE 32), GS-2101-12, you will monitor and oversee the planning, organization, and supervision of all unit programs required by the Air Force, Major Command, and ANG regulations.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Administer refresher and advanced training to ANG military AOC weapons systems positional specialists.
  • Instruct rated pilots, navigators, air battle managers, space operations specialists, and other AOC assigned personnel in advanced aerospace operations applications using current AOC systems of record.
  • Monitor progress during training and advises when AOC personnel are ready for positional certification,
  • Interview instructors, pilots, navigators, air battle managers, space operations specialists, and other assigned AOC personnel to determine operational background in their respective weapons systems/specialties.
  • Perform as instructor and/or examiner; evaluate and examine AOC personnel to determine preparation for the application of aerospace force/ operations, proficiency during actual operations, instructional ability, and technical competence; and conducts post operations critiques.
  • Determine progress and proficiency levels, provide requalification evaluations, and direct/provide specialized remedial or additional training as necessary.
  • Develop and instruct specific courses in all AOC phases of operations.
  • Evaluate formal training directives, and develop course changes, new materials, new training systems, and new methods.
  • Review and analyze directives, regulations, reports, and operationally specific publications.
  • Determine additional training requirements to advance proficiency while maintaining the highest practicable mission capable rate.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and Reachback operations. Conducts Command and Control over all subordinate elements of the Theater Air Control System (TACS), including airborne and ground based sensors.
  • Plan and execute datalink operations critical to maintaining and synchronizing situational awareness in multiple theaters.
  • Collect, review, and disseminate data on tactics and employment techniques for all weapons systems (friendly and enemy).
  • Responsible for coordinating and implementing adjustments to the ACO based on changes in real-world requirements and environmental conditions.
  • Function as the officer in charge of deployment reception, staging (including billeting) and redeployment of personnel.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Officer Only - Minimum Rank O1- Maximum Rank O4

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures; and experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 Level - MUST possess specialized experience for the GS-12 Level, at least 36 months of experience experience, education, or training routine and non-routine preflight, in-flight, post-flight, ground or command and control (C2) duties according to specific transportation functions; experience receiving, interpreting, extracting, and disseminating relevant data for mission planning or execution; experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems.

SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: In addition to the required Specialized Experience, MUST possess specialized supervisory experience which includes experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; Experience leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
