Duties

Help
  • Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables.
  • Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items.
  • Operate a variety of kitchen equipment. Disassemble, clean and assemble component parts and accessories. Follow safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment.
  • Clean, store and maintain all equipment and work areas after each use. Clean other work areas and equipment on an established cleaning schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of 4-hour initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Shift will vary based on mission but could include days, nights, weekends and occasional holiday.
  • Pre-employment physical is required. Must be able to lift and carry weights weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination. I
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.

Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess.

Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable:

Additional information

As a recruitment incentive, we are offering a $500 sign on bonus, and $1500 retention incentive.
**Note: A one-time signing bonus of $500 will be initiated upon the first full pay period and is for new employees only. A $500 retention incentive will be paid in one lump-sum payment after the first six months of continued employment and a $1,000 retention incentive will be paid in one lump-sum payment after the first twelve months of continued employment with DFMWR. To qualify for the retention incentives, the staff member must not have had any LMER actions during that time or currently pending.
