About the Position: Serves as a Medical Support Assistant responsible for the performance of a variety of substantiveduties in support of the Call Center.
Appoint patients to their Primary Care Manager (PCM) or within their Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) according to currently accepted guidelines and benchmark standards for Call Centers.
Initiate and process telephone consults in GENESIS in accordance with stated guidelines and clinical issues for the PCMH team nurses and providers when unable to accommodate a beneficiaries? request.
Assist in reviewing initiated referrals to specialty clinics within the MTF.
Schedule appointments for the patient when their PCM and their medical home providers are not available while still maintaining access for enrolled beneficiaries in their own medical homes.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes processing telephone consults, confirming accuracy of information of patients, and scheduling appointments.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
