Duties

Help
  • Participates in planning, formulating and implementing space policy and procedures for the administration of an effective facilities and space program for the DoD OIG offices, worldwide.
  • Prepares and provides sets of AutoCAD drawings of new or altered office space, equipment and systems from sketches, marked up prints and verbal instructions.
  • Reviews drawings that contain information concerning the location, design, materials, dimensions, standard parts, etc. that is necessary to carry out construction, demolition and systems furniture installation and alteration projects.
  • Coordinates and projects cost estimates for budgeting purposes for a variety of multiple-use construction projects.
  • Maintains space allocation standards, allocation records, spreadsheets, plans, files and charts for an effective facilities and space management program.
  • Ensures the completion of space alterations and relocations with minimum disruption in daily activities of the customer component offices involved.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position has been designated as Security designation level Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov) .
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Time in Grade:

For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.

You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.

Specialized Experience: To meet basic requirements for this position, you must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service. The Specialized Experience is defined as:
1) Maintaining an effective space management program;
2) Preparing floor plan drawings with AutoCAD software;
3) Projecting budget requirements and overseeing expenditures;
4) Evaluating ways to improve the effectiveness of facilities and space management operations;
5) Ensuring proper security measures are incorporated in space management and project planning;
6) Responding to detailed questions in areas of responsibility;
7) Effectively explaining the status of projects or rationale for changes.

Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.

Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at this Grade level.
