Duties

Help

This position is responsible for providing expertise, advice, and recommendations regarding the processes used to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate both traditional and innovative performance improvement systems and interventions to include alternative delivery methods (modeling and simulation, computer-based training, videos, job aids, etc.) and to plan and carry out training curricula for recruiting mission. Establishing training criteria to meet organizational requirements; formulating training plans to effectively and efficiently qualify new members and maintain currency of existing members; assessing program effectiveness; and developing improved curricula as needed.

  • Develops total course content to meet defined course objectives for courses in a broad specialty area, a subject-matter field, or a cluster of courses; and participates in planning and developing or evaluating and revising the curriculum for a training program. Plans, develops, and implements training policy and procedures directly affecting the successful recruiting mission.
  • Develops and controls procedures for external evaluation of all assigned courses. Prepares, executes, and monitors programs for small- and large-scale trials of courses. Plans, develops, and compiles manuals and teaching methods for training courses; develops tests and curriculum for instructors in the field; and conducts studies to improve methods of instruction and overall advantages to a successful recruiting campaign.
  • Analyzes and provides recommendations/presentations on educational or instructional problems or technical questions involving a functional specialty area of education and training, a subject-matter area, or a grouping of courses.
  • Reviews and analyzes complex training problems and determines appropriate strategies of instruction that contribute to the recruiting mission. Evaluates the effectiveness of the application of a wide variety of education/training principles to complex training problems and deficiencies; and provides specialized external evaluation, statistical data, and/or course revision recommendations for review and use.
  • Reviews and modifies course materials and plans for complex courses that require extensive fact-finding and development of source information, and involve significant problems in selecting, interpreting, and adapting materials.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-12 grade level, applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: monitoring unit level training effectiveness; writing and/or editing training materials, according to written standards and guidelines; delivering oral presentations in a formal classroom setting; formulating training plans to effectively and efficiently qualify new members and maintain currency of existing members; assessing program effectiveness; and developing improved curricula as needed.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
