Duties

Help

As a Program Officer you will:

  • Support the AmeriCorps Seniors Associate Director in the development and implementation of Grantee guidance, Grant and Program Officer support materials, and policy development.
  • Develop content for the operations guidance, grantee handbooks, and other materials.
  • Support on-going case management issues such as AmeriCorps Seniors approval of waivers, and issues raised by the OIG.
  • Support the Associate Director in staffing and leading key working groups.
  • Work with AmeriCorps data and systems teams to help ensure that AmeriCorps Seniors program requirements are represented in AmeriCorps data systems design and operation.
  • Support AmeriCorps Seniors ongoing development of monitoring protocols including collaborating with other AmeriCorps staff members on monitoring tool design and monitoring implementation.
  • Support the Program Officer for Training and Knowledge Management in determining requests for specific training, human and financial resources available.
  • Provide input into formulating training, curriculum planning, and in reviewing instructional programs to assure fulfillment of established goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the mid range of the NY-02 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-9 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes:

  1. Developing and implementing Grantee guidance.
  2. Supporting managers in staffing and leading working groups including developing work group assignments, preparing briefings and planning documents, or coordinating tasks and assignments;
  3. Working with data and systems teams to help ensure that program requirements are represented in data systems design and operation;
  4. Providing input into formulating training, curriculum planning, and in reviewing instructional programs to assure fulfillment of established goals and objectives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

Education

If you are qualifying based on education alone, you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or LL.M., if related leading to such a degree. Such education must be from an accredited institution and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. You must submit an unofficial copy of your college transcript. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. educational standards.

You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable.
