This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent serves as an Artifacts Metadata Technician at the Barack Obama Presidential Library. Duties

Help

As a Metadata Technician (ARTIFACTS METADATA TECHNICIAN), you will:

  • Create basic metadata to support digitization projects of artifact collections, establish minimal intellectual control over digitized resources, and prepare resources and metadata for submission to systems, such as the artifact collection information database and other systems
  • Administer the Library's collection information database; performs data cleanup as necessary; and serves as primary liaison to overarching database administrators and application vendor.
  • Lead in the preparation of artifact digitization and support artifact digitization as captured by the Photographer. This includes the handling of artifacts as well as staging and lighting set up. The incumbent will coordinate artifact digitization workflow as part of artifact inventory and cataloguing done by Museum Technicians.
  • Work on large-scale imaging production projects in an artifact context, but may also provide indexing, metadata creation, and data entry for a range of other projects, including digitization for exhibits, routine imaging, special requests, and other moderately complex digitization projects.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

  • Experience with metadata management and formatting in relation to museum artifact collection management; AND
  • Preparing digital imaging formats for submission into a variety of systems; AND
  • Making image enhancements, or modifications to digital images.

Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
