Duties

Photography (55%)

The selectee will serve as a photographer for the Capitol Visitor Center, capturing images for use in a variety of communications and marketing products including websites, social media, digital displays, and print materials.

Performs field photography in direct support of organizational communications goals including staff engagement with the public and government officials. Responsible for color, black and white, infrared photography.

Performs photography at various internal events such as awards and recognition ceremonies, new hire on-boarding, and training sessions for reports and for historical documentation purposes.

Performs digital image workflow, cataloging/storage and equipment management, and photo-editing using Adobe Creative Suite and other software.

Researches historical photos from the Architect of the Capitol, Library of Congress and other sources to select images for use in Capitol Visitor Center online and in-person education programs.

Multimedia Production Support (45%)

Assists in the development of a variety of multimedia products including videos, social media, live streaming, podcasts, e-learning projects and other educational programs, and internal and external documents, presentations, brochures, and other resources.

Transports, sets up and operates various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props and microphones for location production. Operates and maintains proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio and video recorders and other production equipment.

Operates cameras, video recorders, video distribution switchers and audio mixers; sets up and adjusts lighting equipment including fixed and portable tungsten lights; adjusts audio equipment including assorted lavalier and microphones; provides troubleshooting of video, audio and lighting equipment; performs routine equipment maintenance; makes recommendations to department for software and equipment purchases.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.   Candidates for the GS-09 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience includes the following: (1) Performing field photography in support of organizational goals including staff engagement with the public and government officials; (2) Capturing images for use in a variety of communications and marketing products including websites, social media, digital displays, and print materials; (3) Developing a variety of multimedia products including videos, social media, live streaming, podcasts, e-learning projects and other educational programs, and internal and external documents, presentations, brochures, and other resources; and (4) Operating various production photographic equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props and microphones.

- Ability to meet and deal effectively with a wide range of customers and AOC officials to ensure the efficient and reliable production of communications materials.

- Knowledge of digital asset management, file transfer protocol (FTP) software and SharePoint.

- Ability to communicate in written and oral formats as a representative of the CVC.
