This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Office of Audit- Deputy Inspector General for Audits. As an Information Technology Specialist (DATAMGT), you will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading data into, and managing databases in, the Data Center Warehouse (DCW), which is in turn used by auditors, evaluators, and investigators to accomplish TIGTA's mission.

Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Advise leadership on emerging DCW technologies and strategies, e.g., efficient and cost-effective methods for storing datasets, methods for backing up and restoring data, etc.
  • Coordinate enhancements for data warehousing and delivery of electronic files to the off-the-shelf software formats utilized on TIGTA's computer equipment located throughout the country.
  • Participate in enterprise-wide data analytics and risk identification efforts.
  • Develop long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor storage space for critical file systems and performs capacity planning to address growth in items like storage, memory, and Central Processing Unit (CPU) utilization. Creates and administers user, groups, roles, security schemes, and security profiles.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

Applying database management and project management concepts and techniques.
Examples may include:
- Creating computer programs using tools, such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS), to manipulate and analyze data.
AND
- Validating the reliability of data.
AND
- Using project management principles, methods, and practices to develop plans and schedules, monitor activities, and report on accomplishments.


Specialized experience For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

Examples may include:
- Using software tools, such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS) Enterprise Guide, to manipulate data.
AND
- Validating the reliability of data.
AND
- Using project management principles, methods, and practices to develop plans and schedules, monitor activities, and report on accomplishments.


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.


Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
