This vacancy announcement is for a Dual-Status Technician position which requires active membership in the New Jersey National Guard (uniformed military service). Official appointment is not effective until membership within the New Jersey National Guard is confirmed by the gaining Human Resources Office.

Duties

As an MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR SUPERVISOR, WS-5703-7, you will:

  • Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations
  • Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas
  • Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed
  • Maintains production reports and records.

Military Grades: SSGT/E-5 to MSGT/E-7

Compatible Military Assignments: 2T171
Selectee has one (1) year to obtain required AFSC

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

Additional Requirements:
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

General Experience:
Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

Specialized Experience:
Must have at least 36 months of specialized experience or training which demonstrates the following:

  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties
  • Ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes
  • Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
