Duties

Help

Plans and coordinates the logistics to the Air Force Marathon. Assist with organization of the routes to include measuring, marking and set-up for all races (marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k). Formulates, plans, and implements techniques; and develops broad strategies and procedures to conduct the comprehensive planning of the Air Force Marathon. Serves as an advisor to the Marathon Director. Plans contain many variables and complex technical planning questions. Develops reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on the impact and relationships of different physical, economic, social and functional elements of the Air Force Marathon and possible side effects on the surrounding community. Prepares appropriate reports in narrative or graphic forms for the Marathon Director to keep the ABW Commander updated. Decisions are made regarding conventional aspects of assignment that are covered by precedent, professional practice, or policy commitments relating to Security Forces, Medical Personnel, Civil Engineering, Communications Squadron, local law enforcement, off-base permits, and check point. Participates in negotiations for the administration of contracted work efforts and develops Statement of Work (SOW) for contracted effort. Reviews firms, experience, performance, and/or ability handle planning projects. Conducts a continuing survey effort. Conducts a continuing survey and data monitoring to ensure contract accomplishment conforming to current Air Force acquisition effort to identify facility resources, and existing and future installation requirements. Oversees facility management resources including personnel, service contracts, space utilization, and information resources. Exercise control of and responsibility for the preparation of maintenance, alteration and repair work, projects which include statements of work, scope, cost estimates, engineering design, contract plans and specifications, job plans, material requirements, trade skills, and man hour estimates. Performs travel to attend local, state, and national meeting, conferences, seminars that pertain to running a marathon. Represents the Air Force Marathon at these events.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

Experience in long distance running events including strong logistical/operational background and other skills/abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Knowledge of USA Track and Field long distance running rules and regulations. Demonstrates a positive, cooperative attitude creating largely favorable feedback. Usually works independently with minimal supervision. Identifies problems and formulates solutions to meet program objectives. Coordinates with management keeping supervisor informed of important issues or activities relating to day-to-day operations success and performance. Knowledge of military protocol and procedures. Must exercise diplomacy and tact in contacts with public, employees, supervisors and managers. Forklift and/or semi-truck license not required but preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the qualifications above.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
